Birds have always lead the way into and out of "The Outside". They hold the keys, yet at the same time are the lock and are very selective of who gets to enter into this whimsical world. Soaring high above us they are able to select the very special few from a vantage point many of us couldn't possibly grasp. I have always found birds fascinating, which is why they are heavily featured in my work. “Turn Key: One” and “Turn Key: Two” complement each other in this diptych as “birds of a feather”.

It feels like it is time to get lost again. Shake off the stress of everyday life and GO OUTSIDE into a world of curious creatures, adventures, and fantastic (yet dangerous) roads to travel down. It feels like it’s time to live again.
My imagination has always taken me to whimsical places, much like Wonderland, Narnia, Middle Earth, and Oz. In order to get into this world, you might find help from a “Pied Piper”, a friendly rabbit, or perhaps a “Knocking Bird.” Once you are there, be prepared to see things that you have never seen before! You will see things that could only make sense in your wildest dreams. I invite you to embark on this special journey and enjoy The Outside.

In the late 20th and 21st century, diverse forms of commonplace and popular art appeared to be coalescing into a formidable faction of new painted realism. The phenomenon owed its genesis to a number of factors. The new school of imagery was a product of art that didn’t fit comfortably into the accepted definition of fine art.
